To find out where ONE OF your paternal ancestors was from, you will need to get a male relative to take the Y-chromosome test. Either your father or his brother, your brother, your father's brother's son (your first cousin), etc. I don't know how precise the tests are beyond "Europe." Certainly I haven't seen any specific nationality mentioned.

To get the lineage of your father's mother, you can have your father tested, or his sister, or his sister's child. This would be mtDNA tests.

Testing your mother's brother's son would be to get the lineage of your mother's father.

The tests themselves do not link you, nor tell you anything about other people who have tested. However, there are some websites which allow people to look for other people with the same or similar results.
