Re: Testing my DNA
In Response To: Testing my DNA ()
Hi anybody, Just a little background on my West Family. I don't know who my gg grandparent were, so I would like to find out what tribe my gg grandmother came from. The gg grandfather was white, probably a slave owner, she maybe was a servant black or Indian and this is an assumption. How could we find out about the mother's side without knowing her name. We have done the White West DNA testing and found out we matched 12 out of 12 markers with a white, James West, b. 1798, SC. My g grandfather, Silas was born 1832 in NC and Mulatto. So now we have a 34 year gap which is more that we had before. James was married twice. His first wife and children UNK. It was said he may have abandoned or divorced her. But there is information on the second wife and children and we have been in contact with some those descendants. I assumed that he probably married an Indian or Mulatto woman the first time. WOW! but we don't know.
