They didn't know???? Please Explain
In Response To: Re: 25 Marker Exact Matches ()

WHAT!?! OH my gosh!!! This is shocking to me!! I don't even know what to write! I can't believe they don't know??? How can they not know??? I mean, even if they haven't been exposed to very much education I'd think oral histories amongst families would have been prevalent and thus our stories survive. Wow, that's just amazing! I really must analyze how I feel right now. Why am I a little mad right now? I'm not sure if I'm mad at them or at the process of colonization and destruction of cultures, or if I'm mad because I can't understand why the oral history of relatives being sold off somehow wasn't important enough to make it into the family stories that were passed down. Why do I feel this way?? I feel a mixture of shock, horror and disgust and I feel bad that I feel this way. I'm like dang, what are you doing over there that so many just forgot to mention the fact that their brothers, sisters, mothers, aunts and uncles were violently sold away. Please tell me that you mean they know, but that they just didn't know where we went - to America. That I can understand, but just having no freaking idea that slavery happened makes smoke come out of my ears!!! It makes me feel like how responsible are you going to be for yourselves, for your own history despite what someone else did. Please educate me Toot! Please explain something I'm missing or perhaps being insensitive about. Help!
