Re: 25 Marker Exact Matches

My phenotype is neither "African" nor "European," but is a typical mix and pretty ordinary for African Americans where the European ancestry is not recent, but 3-4 generations back.

And there was a posting somewhere on this forum about the guy from ABC news whose dna matched the Ashanti and he went to Ghana. He was told by the Ghanaian Minister of Tourism (I think that's right) that most of the people there have no idea that we are descended from Africa, having been taught little to nothing of slavery in the Americas. [Apparently they are in the process of changing that.]

That was pretty astounding to me. They figure we are indigenous black people from America, just like they are indigenous black people from Africa.
quote from abc News article
"I spent two days under the wing of Harruna Atta. he patiently explained the politics, social customs and culture of Ghana and Ghanaians. He took me to meet the tourism minister who told me, to my shock, that many Ghanaians are only dimly aware of the slave trade that thrived on their shores centuries ago. He said some might not even connect visiting black Americans to Africa. They would assume that there were indigenous dark-skinned people in America just as there are in Africa. I was told that when "Roots" was broadcast on national television, some people learned for the first time that black Americans originally came from Africa."
