Males can be tested for both maternal (mtDNA tested) and paternal (Y-chromosome tested) lines, so you can do both sides of your parentage. African Ancestry will compare your DNA to their database of African Population groups to possibly give you a match to a specific population in Africa for each of DNA tests.

Another type of test is available (from another company) which can determine what your mix of different ethnicities might be, divided among Asian, Sub-Saharan African, European and Native American, but will not point you to a location for any of your ancestry.
