It is very interesting that there are 3 different 'Deirdre's (Deidre and Deidra) and we are all descendants of Bubis from the Bioko Island.
My line is from Franklin county Virginia, (Saunders) the same line as Linda's. (Hey cuz!)
From what I have read, the Bubi's marked their faces so that they would not be desireable for sale and that they may know other Bubi's from the facial markings.
Another thing that I read is that they were fierce and no one dare enter the island out of fear.
So were our ancestor ambushed or sold due to tribal unrest and capture? Were alot of Bubis sold into slavery or is it a small number of people?
