Re: African Ancestry Results

Hello Cuz! :-)
I think certain areas comprised of slaves from a sole region in Africa. I have read (or was told) that many people of the Ibo (Igbo) tribe were sent to Virginia. I have read that South Carolina contained a lot of slaves from the Senegambia region, and we know that the coastal regions of Georgia and South Carolina comprised of a lot of slaves from the Rice Coast region of West Africa (Sierra Leone, Ghana, etc.). I would take a stab and say that if anyone has ancestors from Virginia, there's probably a fairly good probability that they have Igbo ancestry. But it could in lines in which your DNA can not detect, like your father's mother's father's mother's mother line. African Ancestry's MatriClan and PatriClan tests only deal with two lineages of many: your mother's mother's mother's mother's mother (and so on) line and your father's father's father's father's father (and so on) line.
So much to sort out, but I am hopeful that more attempts will be made.
