My cousin's Haplogroup is L3. This is my father's mother's lineage. I also got conflicting (to me, anyway) info. Her specific sequence is the subgroup L3d. They found matches to her sequence in Ethiopia.

But, the L3 Haplogroup is "widespread" throughout Africa, high concentration in West Africa. Since Ethiopia is in EAST Africa, color me confused. I'm trying to get confirmation on the Ethiopia finding.

Information I've found about Haplogroup L3 also talks about "the Bantu Expansion" which "re-populated Africa." The time frame I was given for L3 is 50,000 years ago.
