The result only tells you, where your average ancestor most likely comes from. "Average" in this case means,that if your mother comes from China and your father comes from South Africa, your might end up with a best hit in India, because India is right in the middle of the two countries of origin. You will not be able to trace a single line with autosomal markers like it is possible>>
I understand what the companies do but do not see a good truth in it because a Chinese ancestor is Chinese and a African is an African, neither are Indian. Sounds strange to me and a bit deceptive. Maybe because the field of DNA is so new to us we are taking whatever is out there, I don't know. I have heard this explanation before and I do except it for what it is, I am skeptical of the final results. As time goes on perhaps we will have more definative feedback on our ancestry.
