Thanks for your story and findings. Your excitement really came across to me.
I believe your Fulani de Tal references are on more on point. This is reinforced by the phrase primarily located in Spanish speaking countries and not Africa. Tal is used in many parts of Spanish as an adverb, adjective and noun, such as in "Que tal?". The prevalence of the Fulani de Tal makes me wonder out the presence and impact of the Fulani in the Spanish Americas.

Tal is a Spanish/Latin root for such or so and so; This Spanish makes more sense than a connection to Hebrew, especially considering the locations where most commonly used:
