Re: After DNA TRibes, What Next???
In Response To: After DNA TRibes, What Next??? ()

I scored extremely high with several listings for Guinea-Bissau, but that is a very small country so I take it as more of the "region"

Sherry,

Most of my matches came also from Mozambique and second is Guinea-Bissau. The largest cluster was in the same general area (central west coast), with a few at the northwest coast and fewer still at the south west coast. I had one each in Somalia, Ethiopia and Kenya. The other few matches were off the continent. I look at the matches as places that my ancestors migrated to and from, it would be very sad for me if my DNA was not found at all. I don't really get too stuck on the country name because all those names were decided for the most part by peoples who did not live in Africa.

I have a mystery to solve as to why I have so many matches in far off Mozambique, but this is what makes the research challenging. I think it was Mel who started this thread and it opened my eyes as to what I need to do now, and that is to re-read everything that I have read in and have pencil and paper in hand to walk with the ancestors on their journeys :)

BTW, I sent you a private email earlier today about my trip to Africa.

Sasa
