I agree and think the same way.

Starting with NG, you get all the benefits of FTDNA but at a lesser price if you are willing to test only the YDNA or mtDNA. So it is a good place to start and leaves you options to expand without starting over.

You can expand the NG 12 marker test (which is all they do) to 25 or 37 markers for YDNA and for mtDNA you can expand as well.

Based on the findings (ie African matches), THEN you can take the next step and pay more for the AA. It simply doesn't make sense if you believe there may be other possible origins.

It's definitely exciting. I think using all types provide a clearer picture that one alone does not provide:
- YDNA/mtDNA
- DNATribe
- Region specific mapping (AA)
- Admixture (DNAPrint)
