I don't know anything about the progress of the project at collecting the 100,000 indigenous samples, but I, too, am curious about that. I received my kit today. For the $107.50 "donation" (including shipping and handling) I received in the mail: a booklet about the project, a double-sided map (like what you get in the magazines) of the flow of the y chromosome and mitochondrial DNA from Africa to the rest of the world & a lengthy piece on Anthropological Genetics on the other side (both are similar to what is on the website), a CD-Rom of something, and two test swabs with instructions. I believe the test is done by Family Tree DNA in Texas. Should my mDNA results indicate an African origin then I will also have a test done through Howard U which I think has the best set of samples to distinguish African populations (africanancestry.com). Should the mDNA mark toward the Native American types then I guess we'll know that Gram's story of an "old indian woman who could have been her mother's mother" is true. Did anyone get their results back yet? Sonia
