Re: DNA Tribes
In Response To: DNA Tribes ()

I'm sure it is still a shock, but keep in mind appearance, facial features etc can still be not enough to detect lineage when compared to matching against DNA multiple possibilities.

The interesting thing about DNA is that it also shows how people categorize by appearance while there is many facets and possible many origins.

Your features will still identify you of AA lineage. These tend to trump other features.

What is interesting and exciting is that you uncovered more about your background.

You may (and probably do) have multiple tribes in Africa associated with you. But the more tribes you have the less likely it would bubble up as the top 10. I again suggest you take the Continent analysis. I won't have ordered my packet last week without it for this very reason. So if you have multiple tribes, Continent would be high and your features would be high.

Mix background is a challenge. The more the mix...the more the challenge of identification at the tribal level. If one had a high mix in Asian or Native American background AND this was mixed with other continent tribes, neither the mix of Asian or Native American may appear high as well even though one may look that way.

I recommend continuing on an exploring the Y or mt DNA tests.

Your research is only beginning....exciting!
