Re: L3 Mystery
In Response To: Re: L3 Mystery ()

I may have posted this link before, but, here it is again...

http://research.history.org/Historical_Research/Research_Themes/ThemeEnslave/SlaveTrade.cfm

"New Findings about the Virginia Slave Trade" by Lorena Walsh

It includes a table of "Number of ships and slaves, by Naval District, and by port of origin."

Ports listed are: London, Bristol, Liverpool, Other Britain, Virginia, Other Plantations, West Indies

There is some indication that slavers from certain ports "concentrated their trades on differing sources of supply within Africa," and that "this alone would result in different ethnic mixes among slaves arriving in the various naval districts."

My paternal line is from Virginia, but I have no idea where and, now that I have the above information, have no clue what I am going to do with it. But others may find it useful at this point in their research.
