Re: DNA Tribes Test
In Response To: Re: DNA Tribes Test ()

Hi Sherry,

I'm not too concerned about the certificate either.

What I do find wierd about the DNA Tribes is that they give you results related to people in the states. I saw one sample where they were showing matches as Caucasion Michigan. This would not be helpful if the provide info from the states. I find it quite odd that they do this.

Also, I noticed the continent match has a scale from 0 to 4 but the description is a scale from 0-200. Huh? It's gaps like this make me wonder if they are fly-by-night. Can you explain this? Is this because it is in an ambiguous continent (border continent). If so, this alone is the reason why this is better than DNA Print. Let me know your thoughts.

The Global Match may not be useful it pulls up African American (Georgia) and African American (Ohio). If you look at the African-American sample, this is the result.

I am also interested in the 3 levels and not just Continent. So this may be the test to take. What do you see as the benefit to pay extra for the Continent (BGA Plus)?

I don't believe you can take the results from this particular test for African Ancestry. For their test, you need either Y-DNA or mtDNA information to send to them. They offer a reduced rate of $200 for the analysis only.

Sorry for the long note, but this topic is addicting.
