Only African Ancestry tells you what tribe/current group of people your Y-chromosome DNA or Mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) matches.
BUT, and that's a big but, your Y-chromosome DNA or mtDNA represents the 'tribe' or 'people group' for only ONE PERSON in each generation of your ancestry. So you can say you know the origin of one lineage, not that you know YOUR origin.
I am Tikar and Kru through my mother's two parents, Mende and Temne plus Bubi through my father's two parents. So I have identified 4 lines of ancestry, but that is STILL just a small part of my ancestry. Therefore, I have to say I am ALL of them, plus many, many unknown lineages.
