Hello HL,
The ancestors are speaking to you. I too don't share a cultural history with the ethnic groups I am genetically connected to, but there is a deep spiritual connection. And as you know, our African ancestors were very spiritual.

We don't realize it, but a lot of the things we do have its origins in Africa....like the expressive way we worship in church, our unique ability as a whole to sing powerfully, our music (not gangsta rap though), our tendency to have family reunions compared to other ethnicities, our tendency as a whole to remain strong when we lose a job, loved one, etc., our dance, our ability to excel in sports, our ability to excel in math, sciences, and anything given to us (remember who REALLY built the pyramids in Egypt), etc. etc. All of that came from Africa. So, in many ways, everything wasn't really severed. It's just that due to America's continued ability to hide our history, then we are unaware of what Africa has truly provided to us and the entire world.
