Re: illinois - french - black
In Response To: illinois - french - black
(Richard Schaefer) Hey Mr Schaefer Thanks for posting that link and information on the early church records online including native American and black among the colonial french in Randolph County, IL I recently discovered while tracing a few of my Louisiana Creole Ancestors a connection to Kaskaskia Island, it's native people and Fort de Chartres. At least four generations of my ancestors were discovered to have been some of the original settlers of Kaskaskis. As you can image, this is pretty exciting to have discovered one of my 6th generation great grandmother was a Native American name Marie Rouensa. I am overwhelmed with joy to have made this discovery and to know that this part of my Louisiana Creole ancestral history, Predates the Louisiana Purchase (1803) by about 100 years. I am still gathering the pieces which will make for an interesting story of how this discovery was made. So tell me have you also connected any of your ancestry to Illinois too?
