Bonjour Ron,

I have seen "terrain" many times. It means lots. The French word for ground or earth is terre and terrain is a parcel or lot of land. The paper you refer to is L'Abeille - The New Orleans Bee. It existed for ninety-eight years from 1827-1925. The Bee was a stalwart for the francophone community.
