The fourth annual LA Creole Conference was a great success. The topics covered included: "Race and Reconstruction," the Sisters of the Holy Family, Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament, Creole-run newspapers like the Louisiana Weekly, Straight University, New Orleans University, and much, much more. The conference also included a performance of 19th. century Creole music by mezzo-soprano Givonna Joseph. At the Sunday Jazz Brunch, LA Creole showed clips from its first oral history interviews. Also included was a presentation by artist Jose Torres Tama of his paintings of free people of color.
