Re: Researching New Orleans Families
In Response To: Re: Researching New Orleans Families (J. Honora)
Hi Jari, Thank you for responding. The AA DeLavallade ancestry I am researching is I believe descendants of women that were enslaved before the Civil War (utl in pre-1870 census) and two of the three DeLavallade emigrants from France. Wow, tell me more... I was not aware of the DeLavallade name in Plaquemines Parish records; I have located them in Avoyelles, Rapides, and Orleans and in Plaquemine that is the town in Iberville Parish. Do you know which area(s) in Plaquemines Parish I should look at? Pouponne/Paponne/Pupon Robert/Robertson is the names found in the Diocese of Baton Rogue records as the mother of Lawrence and Sophia Estavan and their siblings.
As for the Hyde and Isabelle family I am in contact with Lloyd, we have shared quite a bit of information and hopefully we can prove or disprove a family connection besides the cousin notation in the 1910 census between Sam(uel) DeLavallade and Lilly Hyde. Pat
