Among the lines of the Meilleur family which were free people of color, one is descended from Michel Meilleur (ca. 1794 - 20 Jun 1872) [white] and Eugenie Clarisse Tallarie (ca. 1800-21 Nov 1886) [f.w.c.]. They both lived and died in New Orleans, however Eugenie was born in Saint-Domingue. Among there children were Albert Meilleur, Gustave Meilleur, and Rene Henri Meilleur, who married Louise Eugenie Toledano. There is another colored Meilleur line which descends from Louis Meilleur and Isabelle LaChaise.
