Jacques PUECH of New Orleans and Caroline
Hi, looking for any information on Jacques PUECH, a prominent 19th century resident of New Orleans whose family fled Saint-Dominigue at the height of the Haitian revolution. They lived in Cuba and the New England area before finally settling in New Orleans. Jacques died in the early 1800s in New Orleans and left a large estate. His widow[Louise Poiter] sold a 13 year old slave girl named Caroline to a planter from Opelousas, LA named Francois PITRE in 1808. Caroline Francoise PITRE is my gggg grandmother. She was freed out of slavery in 1820. I would like to know about her life in New Orleans. Any advice? Messages In This Thread
