In Carter G Woodson's book Free Negro Owners of slaves in the United States in 1830,It listed a Francois PORTE(with a hyphen over the e) living in New Orleans in 1830.He was the owner of 1 slave.

There is also a Charles POREE senior listed who was the owner of 2 slaves in New Orleans in 1830.
