There are two things I love to do. Genealogy and crochet. I love to crochet. I started around 1985. A coworker taught me at lunchtime. Once she taught me the basic stitch, I purchased some pattern books and went from there. I recently taught a young cousin the key to holding the needle. Once she figured out the key was the tension on the needle and thread, she was on a roll.

I crocheted throws for a lot of folks in the family and smile when I visit them and see it thrown across their sofas or chairs. The one person who appreciated her blanket that I crocheted her was my husband's aunt. Her favorite colors were yellow and orange and that's what I made her. It comforted her many nights while she laid on her bed and watched tv. It also comforted her when she became ill and was in the hospital and in hospice. It was also placed in her casket.

One year I did sleeveless sweaters for the girls, made hats for the children. My daughter wore a white crocheted dress at her baby blessing at church. It looked as good as those overpriced baby christening dresses. I tried to teach my daughter how to crochet, but she did not take an interest. She took a stage craft class at school and had to learn and she loves it now. My favorite pattern is the "Mile a Minute." It's quick and easy and looks great.

The last time I made something was probably over a year ago. I just don't make the time. Okay, I guess I've said enough. :D It's good to know that people still do it and Ms. Bailey's creations are just marvelous.
