Exhibition Traces Role of Face Jugs in S.C. History

Just a few decades ago, face jugs were thought of as a charming folk art made by white potters in Georgia and North Carolina during the 20th century. Then it turned out that slaves had been making face jugs in the middle 1800s, although no one thought the objects were of much importance.
