My son and myself have been doing some research on Mt. Carmel and have visited it several times during the last 2 months. It seems records were destroyed by fire and floods and time have taken a toll on many headstones. There are many unmarked graves also. The grass has been cut but the disarray of headstones and sunken ground is heartbreaking. We still live near the area and I do have some pictures. Many headstones are handmade and many have no names. The crime in the area is harsh also. I am from Native American heritage and know many people buried there suffered and fought for civil rights and I have the utmost respect for each one there. If anyone would like for me to look for a name in particular, I will do my best to see if I can find a headstone. Many have faded or broken over time. It is a very emotional cemetery still. My prayers go out to each one there and all of you.
