Re: Rev. Lucius DeYampert
In Response To: Re: Rev. Lucius DeYampert ()

Thank you for writing. I am a former church executive and lived/worked in Birmingham, AL. Some of the churches in my area were in Selma; researching the history of mission is how I learned about Rev. Lucius DeYampert. Since there was so little iinformation about him, I began to search more. One of the members of a church for which I was responsible actually knew Rev. DeYampert, who worked at First Presbyterian Church in Selma before starting the Presbyterian Church for African Americans. The name of the book where Rev. DeYampert is mention is, "African Americans in Mission" by Morrisine Smith Mutschi. I have been trying to find out if he is buried in Detroit. I learned that he left Selma after the death of his second wife and moved to Detroit. Is that true? I have visited the graves of his wife and son in Selma, also. Thank you very much for writing.
