Re: Grand Prairie Colored cemetery
![]() In Response To: Grand Prairie Colored cemetery ()
I got some death certificates and they all state that my peoples were interred at Ore City Colored Cemetery, in at least two cases I knew that this was not true. Cedar Grove Cemetery is on the out skirts of Ore City in a dispersed community. I then realized that "Colored Cemetery" is a generic term like colored theatre or colored church. Grand Prairie "Colored Cemetery" is a generic name. I was born in Fort Worth and have drove through Grand Prairie heading for Dallas many times. If you follow the link at the bottom of this post you will find the mention of American Memorial Cemetery and this quote "Many of the original African American residents of Grand Prairie are buried in this cemetery." Also if you googled "American Memorial Park Cemetery" with the quotation marks you will find at Find A Grave: American Memorial Park Cemetery the names of two "Dixons". If nothing else these are at least leads to be explored.
