Sumter County Florida to remove African American Cemetery

Sumter County Florida plans to remove an African American cemetery which may date to the 1800s, as an industry is eyeing the property for development.
We learned about it yesterday when a reader sent us the link. From the County Administrator's cavalier comments it seems he believes that no one cares about this cemetery:

The Sumter County Times followed with an Op-Ed today which suggests that the County is pulling a fast move that the community should be aware of:

It would be wonderful if a few people outside of Sumter County's small world would write letters of concern for this cemetery, to let the county know that someone does care about this cemetery.
