Re: Washington Park Cemetery - St Louis
In Response To: Re: Washington Park Cemetery - St Louis ()
Thank you, Cynthia, for your ideas. I have put on my list of persons/organizations to contact high schools in the area, churches (many of which also do community service projects), boy scouts (to become eligible for Eagle Scout, the scout must do community service). I had not considered persons returning to society from prison, but you are right, they, too, may be a good resource.
I have also put in a call to the St. Louis American and someone suggested I might also consider a news station like Channel 2 since "slow" news nights will come and Washington Park may fit into a segment.
Two of my family members were removed to Calvary, but others remain in Washington Park. I have seen flowers placed at gravesites...even those well hidden among the brush and trees, so there are still visitors to the grounds.
Unfortunately, on my walk through the grounds yesterday (August 21, 2008) I also saw that there are some who are using the cemetery as a dumping ground for their trash.
But, again, thank you so much for responding and offering ideas. I'll keep you posted.
