Re: Washington Park Cemetery-St.Louis
In Response To: Re: Washington Park Cemetery-St.Louis ()
Hello. I am vfcooper. Mr. Ronald Cooper (no relation) purchased Washington Park Cemetery for back taxes some years ago and began the process of cleaning up the site. He died on June 17, 2008. I have been researching the site and posting what I find on Find a Grave--because of the many relatives I have who are buried there. I know Section, lot and grave numbers but there is no accurate map to show where the various lots are. If you are in St. Louis, two things may be very helpful for finding relatives: (1) There is a listing of all the persons who were removed. (2)Before he died, Mr. Cooper gave all the burial records to the St. Louis Genealogical Society. They alphabetized and organized the many records and potocopied them into more than 20 binders (longer than legal size and each about 2 inces thick!) The original burial cards are now at the Missouri Historical Society. The STLGS is now digitizing the burial records. I am continuing my work in the cemetery...I started with Section 6 since that is where my grandmother and her twin sister are buried. I am working on sections 5, 8 and 10 now. I'll upload more pix as I have time. More later...Stay posted. Prayerfully, vfc Messages In This Thread
