Re: [HAITI] Haitian Immigration
In Response To: Re: [HAITI] Haitian Immigration
(David) Thanks for your support. As mentioned, some of my FPC (all born free) lines were documented by Paul Heinegg - all living along the VA/NC border. However, we have a very clear oral history of many arrivals from the West Indies between what appears to be 1800 to perhaps 1820. After 15yrs of research I am still unable to find immigration or naturalization records. Secondly, since the West Indies lines married into the early FPC (I'll use the term blended for now) or (perhaps) assumed certain Anglo-Saxon surnames, I have garnered very little attention until now. For example, we know certain this a blended line: https://www.familysearch.org/s/recordDetails/show?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fpilot.familysearch.org%2Frecords%2Ftrk%3A%2Ffsrs%2Frr_198498033%2Fp_302159933&hash=HloWXpZgU9zB10k5M56iYku8TUc%253D Has anyone researched the process in which the lines from St. Domingo were naturalized into the USA? For example, did some have Anglo-Saxon host families? Any direction would be appreciated. Thanks again, Louis Messages In This Thread
