When people ask why we support or what's important about Haiti to America.
Well, on 9Oct1779, 750 Haitians fought with colonial troops against the British in the Battle of Savannah.
Only 12-14 years old, a drummer boy, Henri Christophe participated. He later became the first King of Haiti. What other country had a King to fight for America's freedom.
There's some discussion, whether these men were Haitians, Africans or "Volontaries de Saint-Dominque." They were Black men fighting in a war to free whites from whites, from an island that later became known as Haiti. Who would have most of it's true history go un-told, still to this day. Just as our true history is un-told.
