Barbados - HOLDIP
If anyone happens to run across the surname HOLDIP in their travels, please let this researcher know. The name is sometimes spelled as HOLDUP, HOLDUPPE, or HOLDSHIP. My Sarah Jane HOLDIP, b St. Lucy Barbados in 1873, had 9 brothers, but I only have first names for 2 of them, and the surname itself seems to be very uncommon (at least in the places I've looked). They MIGHT have been going by BOWEN, the mother's maiden name, or possibly even BABB, her first husband (who died before most if not all were born). I was told Mr. HOLDIP was their father, but the marriage was late..... and that some may have gone to Panama to work on the canal. Messages In This Thread
