Hi:
Your grandfather could have come to the US through Florida, or the Bahamas and then Florida. Louisiana is a possible port of entry also.
I would try Ellis Island for various spellings of his name. Often times names were transcribed incorrectly. I've used the Ellis Island site and have found that their search engine gives you several search options.
