The Barbados Museum and Historical Society is looking to start a new Genealogical Group for Barbados. This was one of the outcomes of a Basic Genealogy Course offered to members only, earlier this month.

The Museum itself is a base for genealogical research and people regularly email, or visit to comb through the articles, journals etc. The cost of museum membership is currently $45BDS for persons living overseas and this includes free access to the museum library which would cost you $15.00 per visit normally. Visits to the museum itself are free for Caribbean Nationals. Museum membership costs will go up on April 1,2012.

I don't work for the museum but I am a member and I would like to urge those with Barbadian roots who have done some research to lodge a copy of their research with the museum librarian Harriet Pierce. People come from as far as Norway to search the records and you may, by giving, receive unexpected information.
