It appears my ancestor, Frances Crawford Clare is of mixed race or negro, even possibly American Indian, judging from the photo I have obtained from her. She was born in The West Indies in 1812.

Her mother, Frances Crawford supposedly married a George Thomas Clare. Frances senior was born in St Kitts in 1792. I have no further information but would be very grateful for any. Thank you.
