My great grandmother's name IS ALICE SPENCE. I don't know any of the history you mentioned but that definately sounds like something she would do. She died not too long ago...1996 if I remember correctly...she had plently of children...I wonder if they are the same...I'l throw some of those names to my mother and see what she knows. Thank you.
