Greetings Caribbean Researchers:
If you haven't been to the Smithsonian's permanent exhibition that presents the fascinating life of Celia Cruz, then perhaps this link will act as a wonderful substitute. The Smithsonian Institution used their best to honor the life of one of Cuba's best.
The exhibit includes photos of Celia as a young girl, her budding career as a singer and her later celebrated performances in the US. The images of Celia as little girl are just precious. Her first Holy Communion photo will make you smile. The photos also give us a brief glimpse of black Cuban family life. Click through the photo album for more.
Waiting for you is her voice. Click on the song titles. You'll understand why so many people, Latinos, lovers of Latin music... of all colors... loved her and miss her terribly.
I'm pleased that I can share the life of Celia Cruz on the Afrigeneas Caribbean webpage.
Go on Miss Cruz...take another bow.
