Anne-Marie,
Wish I'd known about your experience before forking over my money. They wouldn't even take a check. Insisted on cash or international money order!
After my last email, I received a response from a Carol Gillies-Lewis (don't know her relationship to Ms. Pitter, the researcher) apologizing and stating that they HAD sent me additional research, etc, etc. Then said she tried to call me at the phone number in my email but that she got a message that my number was disconnected. Huh? Too much! No reference whatsoever to my request for a refund and no appreciation of the fact that she got my email and responded next day but insisted that they never received my other follow-up emails. Oh, also said that they'd been having COMPUTER problems! You've heard that one before, right.
Anyway, today I called the Jamaica Consulate in DC to find out what to do. They told me to call Dr. Patricia Holness at RGD. I called Dr. Holness and left a message with her receptionist. And then I fired off another email to Ms. Lewis reiterating my request for a refund and copied Dr. Holness.
Will see how it goes this time. Tomorrow I'm going over to the Honorary Consul's office here in Stone Mountain, GA where I live.
You ended up paying for info you gave THEM and I have only received 5 hrs out of the 20 that I paid for. We may never get satisfaction but at the very least I hope that publicizing our experience will keep others from being ripped off.
