Greetings

I posted a message back in August 2006 and received a very nice response from someone named Melcedes who informed me that there was going to be a Burke family reunion in Orlando Florida the 2nd Saturday in July 2007. I did respond but didnt receive a reply.

This is a last minute effort to try and contact Melcedes or anyone who knows where the reunion is going to be held. I would also like to find out more about our shared family tree. The information that I have so far is:

Richard Chance Burke b.1836/37 married Louisa Battiss/Battiest in 1865. they had children named Agnes, Denton, Rispah, Cora, Plotia, Garbutt, Knight and Alleyn. Louisa was born in 1840/41 and died in 1925 aged 85. Richard died in 1931 aged 94. The Battiests lived in Windsor Forest, Portland and Richard lived in Fair Prospect, Portland but was originally from Scotland. I am not sure of where the Battiests were from originally but I have not been able to find birth records for Louisa in Jamaica. The story in our family is that she was possibly from Africa but I think she and her family may have been from America. I am hoping that Melcedes can shed some more light on the matter and can tell me about my great grand uncle Garbutt - her grandfather.
