Re: [PUERTO RICO] Gomez geneology San Juan Puerto Rico

To: denise, thank you so much for responding to my post. i only found my greatgrandmother in a 1910 census under the name Daisy, I did not find her on the 1920 census or the 1930 census. I did find her coming back from puerto rico as celestina gomez and this is her because the year of her birth. in 1920, i see a celestina gomez on the puerto rican census. My great grandmother she was born in San Juan Puerto rico in 1888. unfortunately i dont live in puerto rico and do not know what part of old san juan she was born in to retrieve her birth certificate or maybe the birth record place could have been destroyed in old san juan. In 1888, puerto rico was a colony of spain, so i don't know if the birth records are in puerto rico or in spain. And im wondering if Spain kept Census, Maybe i could find her in a 1900 Spain Census and then i can see the rest of the family members in the household. still searching. p.s. i got relatives in puerto rico, but dont know where they are from my great grandmothers side. I got beat up enough in elementary school for being a puerto rican/indian/african and eating arroz con pollo and bacalahau y fungi etc. instead of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and wearing indian headbands my father gave us to represent our tribes and speaking castellano(castellion) and listening to the sounds of latin and carribean music and latin dancing and doing my indian snake dance. May the Good Lord the Great Spirit guide me to my ancestors and may he guide you as well. God Bless
