Re: Jamaica's Island Record Office
In Response To: Jamaica's Island Record Office ()
I have been to the IRO in Jan 2004 and when there, (doing the research myself) no problems, but on returning? No response. No replies to my telephone calls or emails although they have read my mails and still owe me in time that I have paid for. I was told (when there) that I can send a money order and they will carry on with the research for me! (Sadly, I think they assumed I was born at home, sometime yesterday afternoon, while my mother was out at the shops)! I am not impressed and still not wholly convinced that the IRO and RGD have got their act together. Part of their mission statement: Our Vision? "To become one of the most efficient and effective agencies." (Similarites there to British Rail, even with no competition they do not arrive on time or even at the correct station)! One of their objectives. "Provide access to certified copies of public documents to customers, in a timely fashion, on the payment of the appropriate fees." (My fees were paid in full with a receipt dated nearly four months ago, but I guess that also comes under the heading 'In a timely fashion')! The words ‘soon come’ leaps to mind. I UNASHAMEDLY THOUGHT THE SERVICE I PAID FOR I WOULD GET! (HOW FOOLISH OF ME). I wonder what Bush & Blair would do now? Time for plan G, send in the boys.
