[COLOMBIA] DNA RESULTS SHOW COLUMBIAN CONNECTION
My brother took a male line DNA test from Howard University. This would be my paternal Grandfathers line. My Grandfathers forebearers were slaves in South Carolina, but the family stated that there were Native American. Still we thought that the DNA Test would pinpoint the area in Africa the family came from. Instead the DNA shows that the likely area where our ancestors came from is Columbia South America.
This is where those who have similar DNA to my brother reside. We are trying to figure out how our ancestor got from Columbia South America to South Carolina. I understand there were Africans in Columbia, but the DNA should have pointed to an African connection, and it did not. There are no clusters of our paternal DNA from Africa. My Grandfather was a tall man (about six feet), for his generation. I do not know whether his height came from his mother, or father. That is the hard part, not knowing what either parent looked like.
Someone there may have historical information on the slave trade out of Columbia. I am hoping to trace the area in Columbia my ancestors came from.
All suggestions are appreciated.
