I am curious if there is anymore information regarding free blacks who migrated to the Vera Cruz area? I am currently involved in a research project and have discovered that a prominant free black from Louisiana, by the name of Martin Donato,built a successful colony in Vera Cruz in the 1840s. However, I do not have any records of what eventually happend to his settlement. Can anyone help me?
