So, thanks to this forum (YAY!), I'm pretty sure my great grandmother's second surname is Otero (Carmen Miranda Otero, b. 1903). Her father's name was Juan Miranda Román (b. about 1853), and after looking on ancestry.com, I see there are LOTS of Miranda Románs around San Juan back then. Does anyone know anything about the Miranda (and) Román families?

It seems there's a connection to the Veléz family also, as I THINK Juan's sister is Juana Miranda Román, and she lived with a ton of Velézes in Adjuntas.

I've found some Miranda Oteros around San Juan, but they'd all be the same generation is Juan Miranda Román's wife, who isn't listed on the census even though he's classified as married. I can't figure out how I could find her other surname. Any ideas?
