[Comments] Digital Library of the Caribbean
Greetings Caribbean Researchers:
Please note that this posting is for our Caribbean cousins and our USA cousins whose ancestors lived along the Gulf Coast.
Many of you know that I am an unabashed promoter of early Florida history. Over the years, I've expanded my research to include the Gulf Coast, the East Atlantic Coast and the Caribbean. In other words, I’ve opened my research and expanded it to include the geographical regions listed above.
Why? Because they are all historically connected. I was surprised to learn from Dr. Jane Landers when she was interviewed by AfriGeneas that the Caribbean Ocean was nicknamed “The Spanish Lake”. So does that mean that British Jamaica’s Spanish town had its beginning with Spain? Or that the people from South Carolina still have ancestors in Barbados? Or that Florida’s free people of color in Pensacola may have relatives in Tampico. Mexico? Sure it does and there are many historical links that are still being uncovered.
The Digital Library of the Caribbean offers you an incredible view of the past. Please let me know what you’ve discovered.
