You possibly know that a stretch between Ginger House and Comfort Castle is unofficially known locally as Gray Town and is thought to be where the first maroon Grays in the upper Rio Grande valley settled in the early 19th century.

I'm guessing that this reference is about an area in the U.S.? (Upper Rio Grande Valley) If so, it might be more clear if you were to explain your understanding of the term "maroon". That's not a term used much in this country any longer, but, when it was used here, had a very specific meaning.

My understanding of the term maroon, is "a runaway enslaved person who settled in 'uncolonized' places by the Europeans, in this land and other places in the New World".
